We’ve released a new version of Fun English for iOS, which now includes a parental lock. This will increase Studycat security, for peace of mind
This provides an additional layer of security to give parents peace of mind. To access any external links or attempt to purchase additional content, users will now be required to follow on-screen text instructions to unlock these features.
In addition, and to add an extra layer of security, the unlock instructions will vary between attempts to access these features.
The parental lock will be rolled out to other language learning apps by Studycat on iOS over the coming weeks.
Parental Lock – Additional Studycat Security Options
Parents can also protect themselves by turning off in-app purchasing on their iOS devices.
To turn off in-app purchasing, do the following:
- From your home screen, tap the Settings app
- Tap General
- Scroll about halfway down the page and tap Restrictions
- Tap Enable Restrictions
- When you do this, you’ll be asked to Set a Passcode. The Passcode is a password that locks certain functions of the iOS device. Use a passcode you’ll be sure to remember, but don’t share it with people you don’t want making in-app purchases. If they know your passcode, they can enable in-app purchases even if you don’t want them to. Enter the passcode twice to set it.
- Once the passcode is set, scroll down to the Allowed Content section. Slide the In-App Purchases slider to Off (in iOS 6) or to the left so that it’s white (iOS 7). This will prevent anyone who doesn’t know your passcode from making in-app purchases.
By increasing Studycat security, you’ll control your app and learning the way you want to, giving peace of mind.
